Barnaby is a UK-based freelance composer and multi-instrumentalist, and has been an avid composer since a young age. His experience crosses jazz ensembles, orchestral writing, extensive synthesis works, musicals, and collaborations with game developers. Having performed with Justin Thurgur’s jazz/afro-beat quintet, self-led trios, vocalists, and duets with other instrumentalists over a number of years.

Barnaby is a UK-based composer, multi-instrumentalist, and student currently studying Music, Music Technology, and Psychology at Hills Road Sixth Form College, Cambridge. Alongside his academic studies, he has been an avid composer since childhood, releasing a number of contemporary jazz and classical tracks while pursuing ongoing projects across a variety of styles.His studies have focused around developing his relationships with the piano, drums, guitar, and bass, with extensive commintements to both formal and informal teaching and different approaches to the instruments. He has drawn much influence from the recent contemporary jazz scene, including the works of Taylor Eigsti, Kendrick Scott, Aaron Parks, Chick Corea, Walter Smith III, Julian Lage, Gretchen Parlato, Mark Guiliana, Dayna Stevens, John Patitucci, Ben Wendel, Eric Harland, Gonzalo Rubalcaba, and many more. Barnaby has collaborated with game developers on original music for in-development projects, worked as a post-production assistant shadowing, Music Department Ambassador at Hills Road....Collaborations with musicians including Justin Thurgur’s jazz/afro-beat quintet, self-led trios, vocalists, and duets with other instrumentalists continue to shape his evolution as both a performer and a composer, reinforcing his adaptability across jazz, classical, orchestral, and electronic domains.Beyond music, Barnaby is a passionate follower of the Star Wars universe, with a particular love for the Expanded Universe (Legends) and the original Lucas vision. Re-exploring these stories year after year provides creative fuel and inspiration that often feeds back into his artistic projects. And of course a love for John Williams and his works. Looking ahead, Barnaby will continue to develop his compositional voice, seeking opportunities to collaborate across media and genres, with plans to begin undergraduate study in composition in 2027.
